Global ESG Policy Ep.4 – Singapore

As sustainable management becomes a central priority for companies worldwide, governments are strengthening ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) policies in various ways. Singapore, one of Asia's leading financial hubs, is systematically advancing ESG strategies at the policy and industry levels with the aim of becoming a sustainable city-state.
Global ESG trends around 2025 can be summarized in four themes: stronger regulation and disclosure, the energy transition, increased investment, and integration of international standards. Following the European Union's introduction of the CSRD, climate-related disclosure has become mandatory worldwide, and investment in renewable energy and cleantech is active. Against this backdrop, Singapore is establishing an ESG policy framework that meets international standards while fitting its own industrial characteristics, strengthening its leading position in Asia.
The core of Singapore's ESG policy is the Singapore Green Plan 2030, announced in 2021. This national sustainability roadmap for the following decade sets specific targets for 2030 and a vision for net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. It consists of five pillars: City in Nature, Energy Reset, Resilient Future, Green Economy, and Sustainable Living. Through it, Singapore is simultaneously pursuing environmental protection, industrial innovation, and improvements in everyday living culture.
Singapore is keeping pace with global developments by establishing a standardized disclosure framework based on international standards. It has adopted standards including ISSB, TCFD, and the EU CSRD and developed detailed guidelines tailored to domestic circumstances. In particular, from 2025 all listed companies must disclose climate-related data for their financial-year results, and the reporting scope expands to Scope 3 (indirect emissions) in 2026. In 2027, disclosure obligations will apply to some unlisted companies, with greater ESG transparency expected to spread across industry. Singapore is also actively promoting sustainable finance and carbon markets. It is expanding sustainable-finance policies, including the Climate Impact X carbon-credit exchange, and providing training and guidance to improve financial institutions' and companies' ESG risk-management capabilities. By establishing industry-specific risk-management systems for sectors including finance, transport, and construction, it is encouraging ESG integration throughout industry, securing international investor trust and promoting inflows of global capital.
Ultimately, Singapore's ESG strategy can be described as an integrated national strategy that goes beyond environmental protection alone to achieve both sustainable urban competitiveness and economic growth. Korean companies also need to draw on this model to strengthen industry-specific ESG strategies and transparent disclosure systems.
The international ESG movement is a promise toward a sustainable future in which everyone moves forward together. At the center of that journey, AllthatECO is taking the lead in spreading a sustainable management culture in which the environment, society, and business are in harmony.

Social.
이 계획은 City in Nature(자연과 공존하는 도시), Energy Reset(에너지 전환), Resilient Future(회복력 있는 사회), Green Economy(친환경 경제), Sustainable Living(지속가능한 삶) 등 다섯 가지 축으로 구성되어 있다.
